Real y Militar Orden de San Fernando. Instituted in 1811. 1819-1838 Issue. In 18K Gold with blue and white enamels, weighing 4.8 grams, hallmarked with a left-facing ram's head on the ring (French hallmark used between August 16, 1819 and May 9, 1838, denoting 18K Gold in Paris), measuring 25.5 mm (w) x 29.3 mm (h) inclusive of its laterally-pierced ball suspension, the reverse with chipping evident in the blue enamels on the centrepiece ring, along with crazing in the white enamels on the arms at 12 and 6 o'clock, original ribbon, fine.

Footnote: The Royal and Military Order of Saint Ferdinand is a Spanish military order whose decoration, also known as Laureate Cross of Saint Ferdinand, and is Spain's highest military decoration for gallantry. It is awarded in recognition of action, either individual or collective, to protect the nation, its citizens, or the peace and security of the international community in the face of immediate risk to the bearer. Those eligible are current and former members of the Spanish Armed Forces.
