A rare and extensive lot of awards and insignia to a pilot with Spanish Civil War and likely Luftwaffe service (Blue Squadron), consisting of: 1. A medal bar featuring eight decorations, including: a. An Order of Military Merit with Red Distinction, constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Geneva Cross, the obverse with red enameled arms, bearing a central multi-coloured enameled medallion overlaid by the coats of arms of Castile, León, Aragona, and Navarre, the reverse missing its analogous medallion, the twelve o’clock arm topped by a crown suspension and loop with a period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 36.64 mm (w) x 47.72 mm (h), in fair condition. b. A Medal for the Campaign of 1936-1939, constructed of gilded and patinated bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 36.28 mm in diameter, with minor oxidation visible to the lower edge, in near extremely fine condition. c. A Spanish Civil War Victory Medal, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 33.90 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition. d. A Cross for Military Constancy, constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms, the obverse bearing a central blue medallion overlaid by a raised and gilded mounted horse, circumscribed by an inscription of “PREMIO A LA CONSTANCIA MILITAR” (“MILITARY CONSTANCY AWARD”), the reverse missing its analogous medallion, the twelve o’clock arm topped by a gilt crown suspension and loop with a period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 36.65 mm (w) x 45.95 mm (h), in addition to the missing medallion moderate flecking and scratching is visible to the enamels, in fair condition. e. An Italian War Merit Cross, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Geneva Cross, the obverse bearing a central inscription of “MERITO DI GUERRA” (“WAR MERIT”), topped by the monogram of King Victor Emmanuel III, above a sword wrapped on an oak leaf branch, the reverse bearing a central raised five-pointed star set over top of a radiant background, unmarked, measuring 37.32 mm (w) x 43.77 mm (h), in extremely fine condition. f. An Italian Order of the Crown, Knight’s Cross, constructed of Gold with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Ruppet Cross with white enameled arms set within a Gold frame, joined through the quadrants by fine ribbed Savoy knots of identical construction, the obverse bearing a central blue enameled medallion overlaid by a partially enameled crown, set within a Gold ring, the reverse bearing a central raised eagle overlaid by a Savoy Cross, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop and suspension ring with a period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 35.72 mm (w) x 38.54 mm (h), with some flecking of the enamels evident, in near extremely fine condition. g. An Order of the German Eagle, V Class Cross with Swords, constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with white enameled arms, joined together through the quadrants by NSDAP-style German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas on white enameled discs, the obverse overlaid across the three and nine o’clock arms with a crossed sword clasp, the twelve o’clock arm topped by an integral loop and suspension ring with a period original ribbon, unmarked but demonstrating the physical characteristics of manufacture by Godet, Berlin, measuring 44.60 mm (w) x 49.70 mm (h), with chipping visible to the centre of the enamels of both sides in addition to minor flecking throughout, in very fine condition. h. A Medal for 25 Years of Peace, constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 48.15 mm (w) x 61.27 mm (h), with some oxidation evident to the six and nine o’clock arms, in near extremely fine condition. 2. A ribbon bar featuring five decorations, including a Spanish Military Medal, Order of Military Merit, Medal for the Campaign of 1936-1939, Italian War Merit Cross, and Order of the German Eagle with Swords, of classic Spanish-style constructed with the ribbons mounted on a magnetic metal core with the remnants of a cellophane wrapping visible, unmarked, measuring 90 mm in width, in very fine condition. 3. A Spanish-made Luftwaffe Pilot’s Badge, constructed of a silvered and patinated bronze alloy, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 63.39 mm (w) (inclusive of wingspan) x 51.44 mm (h), a rare Spanish-made example indicating that the recipient likely served in the Luftwaffe as part of the Blue Squadron (Escuadrilla Azul/15. Spanische Staffel), in extremely fine condition. 4. An Italian Pilot Win, constructed of fire-gilded bronze, the obverse consisting of a finely-detailed Italian national eagle topped by a crown and clutching a fasces, the reverse with a clip hinge and horizontal pinback meeting a locking catch, maker marked “S. JOHNSON, MILANO”, measuring 76 mm (w) x 25 mm (h), in extremely fine condition. 5. A Spanish Pilot’s cap insignia, constructed of silvered and gilded bronze, the reverse retaining both attachment prongs, unmarked, measuring 36 mm (w) x 15 mm (h), with some oxidation evident, in very fine condition. 6. Two photos, including one depicting the presumed owner standing at an airfield and wearing a pilot’s uniform, the reverse marked with Treviso (Italy) studio stamp, measuring 85 mm (w) x 62 mm (h), in extremely fine condition, and; one depicting an aerial shot of a coastal region taken from a Nationalist-aligned aircraft, the reverse bearing a Milan studio mark, measuring 96 mm (w) x 70 mm (h), in extremely fine condition. 7. A presentation case concealing all of the decorations and insignia, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux green leather exterior liner, the interior with a padded white rayon liner and dual intact hinge straps, the former maker marked “TORRES GASCÓN, JOYERO, MURCIA” with a depressed white rayon medal bed, closing with dual functional bronze snap buttons, measuring 23.5 cm (w) x 19 cm (l) x 4 cm (h), with moderate material fatigue evident, in very fine condition.
