Russia, Imperial. A Table Medal the 50th Anniversary of the Corps of Military Topographers, 1872

Constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a raised and rightward-facing profile of Tsar Alexander II, circumscribed by a Russian Cyrillic inscription indicating that the medal was issued to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Corps of Military Topographers, the centre of the reverse bearing the Tsar’s monogram executed in high detail, surrounded by the names of key military topographers, geographers and surveyors in Russian Cyrillic, measuring 86.28 mm in diameter, with a small spot of oxidation visible to the obverse adjacent to the profile, in additional to a shallow scratch across the lower half of the reverse, in near extremely fine condition.
