Russia, Imperial. Nine First War Period Uniformed Soldiers Series Postcards
Russia (Imperial); Black and white line drawings, colourized with watercolours in red, green, blue, yellow, gray and brown, seven are artist signed "P.V. Robiquet", while two are artist signed "P. Dmitroff.", all are marked "Armée Russe" (Russian Army) and "CARTE POSTALE" (Post Card) on the reverse. Two are Imperial Guard cards (one illustrates a standing soldier holding a rifle in his right hand, inscribed "Régiment Pavlowsky - 1914" (Pavlowsky Regiment - 1914) below; the other illustrates a Hussar on horseback, another behind him, with a third soldier standing beside him, inscribed "Hussards de la Garde de S.M. l'Empereur" (Hussars of the Guard of His Majesty the Emperor) below; both are marked "Série No 1. - Garde Impériale." (Series Number 1. - Imperial Guard.) and numbered "522" and "529" respectively on the reverse). One is an Infantry card (illustrating a standing soldier holding a rifle in his right hand, a border gate behind him, inscribed "Armée Russe - 146e Régiment d'Infanterie de Tzaritzyne - 1914" (Russian Army - 146th Infantry Regiment of Tzaritzyne - 1914) below, marked "Série No 2. - Infanterie." (Series Number 2. - Infantry) and numbered "505" on the reverse). Two are Cavalry cards (one illustrates a soldier on horseback and holding a lance in his right hand, inscribed "Régiment de Cavalerie de Crimée de S.M. l'Impératrice" (Crimean Cavalry Regiment of Her Majesty the Empress) below; the other illustrates a soldier on horseback, inscribed "8e Lanciers de Vosnessensk (Officier) - 1914" (8th Vosnessensk Lancers (Officer) - 1914) below; both are marked "Série No 3. - Cavalerie." (Series Number 3. - Cavalry.) and numbered "14" and "519" respectively on the reverse). One is an Artillery card (illustrating a soldier on horseback and holding a trumpet in his right hand, inscribed "Trompette d'Artillerie à Cheval - 1914" (Artillery Trumpeter with Horse - 1914) below, marked "Série No 5. - Artillerie." (Series Number 5. - Artillery.) and numbered "523" on the reverse). One is an Engineers card (illustrating a standing soldier holding a rifle in his right hand, four others working behind him at the right, inscribed "18e Bataillon du Génie" (18th Battalion of Engineers) below, marked "Série No 6. - Génie." (Series Number 6. - Engineers.) and numbered "17" on the reverse). Two are Military School cards (one illustrates a standing soldier holding a rifle in his right hand, the military school in the background, inscribed "Ecole Militaire d'Infanterie Alexandre II - 1914" (Alexander II Military School of Infantry - 1914) below; the other illustrates a soldier on horseback and holding a lance in his right hand, three others standing nearby, the military school in the background, inscribed "Ecole de Cavalerie Nicolas" (Nicholas School of Cavalry) below; both are marked "Série No 8. - Ecoles Militaires." (Series Number 8. - Military Schools.) and numbered "521" and "527" respectively on the reverse). Extremely fine.
