(Ordinul Coroana României). Instituted on 14 March 1881. Type II. Civil Division. (1932-1947 Issue). A silver Maltese cross, with red enamelled arms bordered in white enamel, with gilded silver crowns between the cross’s arms, the obverse centre bears the monograms of Charles I on a red enamelled background, circled by the legend PRIN NOI ÎNŞINE (BY OURSELVES) and the date 14.MARTIE 1881, the reverse centre presents the date 10.MAIU on red enamel, surrounded by a ring of white enamel bearing the dates 1866 1877 and 1881, hallmarked on integral ring with a Romanian crown denoting .800 silver content from 1937 to 1949, also stamped with the initials IR and ARG, maker marked RESCH for Joseph Resch, Bucharest, also stamped with the number 407-36, measuring 54.38 mm (w) x 55.26 mm (h), weighing 34.2 grams, on loop for suspension from period original sash, and in better than extremely fine condition. Accompanied by the breast star, of multi-piece construction, a eight-pointed multi-faceted star in gilded silver, with a silver Maltese cross, with red enamelled arms bordered in white enamel, with gilded silver crowns between the cross’s arms, the obverse centre bears the monograms of Charles I on a red enamelled background, circled by the legend PRIN NOI ÎNŞINE (BY OURSELVES) and the date 14.MARTIE 1881, the reverse centre presents the maker’s cartouche inscribed JOSEPH RESCH FILS BUCHAREST, the reverse presents a principle vertical pin assembly, featuring several hallmarks including a Romanian crown denoting .800 silver content from 1937 to 1949 (this hallmark also appears on the 12 o’clock point of the star’s obverse), also stamped with the initials IR and ARG and the number 414-39, measuring 75.50 mm (w) x 75.50 mm (h), weighing 58.6 grams, and in extremely fine condition.
