Poland, Republic. An Order of Poland Restituta, Grand Cross with Case

Instituted 4 February 1921. (1921-1944 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with ball finials, the obverse with a central red enameled medallion bearing a white Polish national eagle, surrounded by a ring of blue enamel with a gilt inscription of “POLONIA RESTITUTA” (“REBIRTH OF POLAND”), the reverse with an analogous red enameled medallion bearing a gilt date of “1918”, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop and suspension ring connecting to a period original sash ribbon, measuring 740 mm in length as presented, with a functional bronze spring clip, accompanied by its period original case of issue, constructed of a wood frame with a red canvas exterior liner, the obverse lid with a gold embossed Polish national eagle, circumscribed by an inscription of “POLONIA RESTITUTA” (“REBIRTH OF POLAND”), the interior with a padded white satin-type lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a retractable off-white doeskin medal bed, opening with a functional bronze snap button and dual functional magnetic metal hinges, unmarked, measuring 232 mm (w) x 167 mm (l) x 62 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
