Latvia, Republic. An Order of the Three Stars, IV Class Officer, c.1930
(Triju Zvaigžņu ordenis). Instituted in 1924. In silver gilt with blue and white enamels, bearing three Gold stars on the obverse centrepiece, measuring 38.5 mm (w) x 58 mm (h), intact enamels, traces of gilt remains, large rosette on its original ribbon with pinback, near extremely fine.
Footnote: Order of the Three Stars is the highest civilian order awarded for meritorious service to Latvia. It was established in 1924 in remembrance of the founding of Latvia. Its motto is "Per aspera ad astra", meaning "Through hardships to the stars". The Order has five ranks and three grades of medals of honour.
