Latvia, Republic. A Smagās Artilērijas Divizions (Heavy Artillery Division) Badge, by F. Muller, c.1930
In silvered bronze and blue enamel, the obverse bears the intertwined cipher “SAD” for Smagās Artilērijas Divizions (Heavy Artillery Division) superimposed over two upwards facing crossed cannons, with three stars in the centre between the two cannons, below is a flaming grenade and a blue enamel ribbon with the inscription “1921 26 MAIJA” (1921 26 May), the reverse is plain and shows the two attachment prongs of the centre cipher, with a two-piece screwback, the second screwback plate bears the maker mark “F. MÜLLER RIGA” and numbered “177”, measuring 31.27 mm (w) x 47.38 mm (h), very fine.
