A 1945 British 3rd Pattern Officers Denison Smock with Beret

A 1945 British 3rd Pattern Officers Denison Smock & Parachute Beret;   Denison Smock: Fabricated from heavy grade cotton twill, well-stitched, incorporating a camouflage pattern, exterior with a full-length zipper closure on the front, designated it as the Officer version, zipper tab marked "DOT" and "MADE IN ENGLAND", epaulettes held in place with olive green plastic dress buttons, four large pockets on the front, each pocket firmly secured with brass snap buttons, each button marked "NEWEY PAT. 201430-22" as are all the buttons on the smock, three brass snap buttons on either side of the zipper closure near the bottom, adjustable tabs with brass snap buttons on either side at the waist, long flap sewn to the back at the base with receivers for the brass snap buttons sewn mid-way up the back, adjustable tab with reinforced button hole, along with three additional olive green plastic dress buttons sewn on each cuff, six reinforced embroidered ventilation holes in each armpit, interior with two side-entry pockets, one on either side, white cotton manufacturer's label sewn on the left side and stamped in black ink "SMOCK DENISON (AIRBORNE TROOPS) / SIZE 2 / Height 6' 3" to 3' 5" /Breast 37" to 39" / Evans and Gray (Mantles) Ltd. 1945" with the British Broad Arrow insignia, measuring 580 mm x 810 mm overall. Beret: Fabricated from maroon wool, black metal eyelets on the right side with a support patch stitched to the underside, a 39.5 mm x 67 mm white metal Parachute Regiment on the left side, held in place on the underside via dual lugs and pin, open edge trimmed in a leather wrap encasing a black ribbon tied together in a bow at the rear, inside liner fabricated from black cotton, stamped in white ink with the "J. COMPTON, SONS, & WEBB, LTD. 1945" maker mark, size marked "6 3/8" and marked with the British Broad Arrow insignia in the dome, stamped in white ink with the British Broad Arrow insignia, "N" and "D" flanking the insignia and numbered "949", measuring 230 mm x 270 mm. Minimal fabric interruptions and light soiling on the exterior of the smock, near extremely fine.   Footnote: The Denison smock was a coverall jacket issued to Special Operations Executive (SOE) agents, the Parachute Regiment, the Glider Pilot Regiment, Air Landing Regiments, Air Observation Post Squadrons, and other Commonwealth airborne units, to wear over their Battle Dress uniform during the Second World War.
