What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

An 1821 Pattern Light Cavalry Trooper's Sabre

An 1821 Pattern Light Cavalry Trooper's Sabre - This sabre features an 820 mm long, slightly-curved, magnetic, steel blade, with a single dull edge, remaining bright and crisp, and having a sharp tip. Both sides are engraved with the Royal Cypher, above an open-ended wreath and topped by the Victorian crown, near the ricasso. Wide blade spine transforms into a raised fuller at the protruding end. It exhibits light surface wear and pitting overall, with a natural shine, better than very fine. Original leather buffer pad remains intact. Multi-bar brass hilt and ferrule, the Royal Cypher topped by the Victorian crown prominently displayed and framed in an oval in the hilt, hinged folding guard, wooden based handle with black leather fish skin style grips embedded on either side, seven rows of bronze wire in the recesses of the ribbed grip. Outside of the handle (langet) with a large oak leaf motif, complemented by a raised pommel, stepped in four levels, with a flattened end surface. It weighs 785 grams and measures 857 mm in length, extensive chipping with loss of the fish skin grip at its base on one side, light contact overall. Very fine.
