Germany, NSFK. A National Socialist Flyers Corps (NSFK) Large Glider Pilot’s Badge
(NSFK Großes Segelfliegerabzeichen). Instituted 26 January 1942 by Korpsführer General Friedrich Christiansen. (1942-1945). Constructed of silvered magnetic iron with enamels, the obverse consisting of a finely-detailed circular oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a National Socialist Flyers Corps (NSFK) insignia in the form of Icarus, overlaid by a mobile swastika and topped by a banner bearing an inscription of “NSFK”, with the wreath overlaid by three white-enameled gulls, the reverse with a barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, measuring 45.48 mm (w) x 46.24 mm (h), weighing 24.2 grams, in near mint condition.
