Germany, Luftwaffe. A Combined Pilot and Observer Badge, by Friedrich Linden
(Flugzeugführer- und Beobachterabzeichen). Constructed of gilded and silver zink, the obverse consisting of an oval gilt laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked but with the physical characteristics of manufacture by Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid, measuring 64.28 mm (w) x 53.32 mm (h), weighing 44.1 grams, minor oxidation and loss of finish is evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
