Awarded to Feldwebel Franz Denzinger, 4./Fallschirm Jäger Rgt. 2: German Cross in Gold, in tombac, silvered, gilded, patinated and enameled, by Deschler & Sohn (marked “1” on the pin), heavy version (70.7 grams), no damages to enamels, in extremely fine condition (with award document, dated 5. February 1944, with ink signature of Generaloberst and Goering’s facsimile signature, with protective plastic like film attached to reverse, sides with small tears, thus in good/fair condition overall, but very scarce to a Fallschirmjäger/paratrooper); Iron Cross 1st Class 1939, non-magnetic center, unmarked, slightly worn, extremely fine (with preliminary award document, dated February 18 1942, with ink signature of Generalleutnant, some stains, in good/fine condition); Wound Badge Gold Grade, in gilded tombac, unmarked, very fine condition (with award document, dated 24.3 1944, right bottom corner torn, otherwise in fine condition); Wound Badge Silver Grade, in silvered zinc, unmarked, very fine condition (with award document, dated 7. June 1943, listing 3 dates when he was wounded, in fine condition); Wound Badge Black Grade award document, dated 1. Sept. 1941 - for wound received on 20 May 1941 (the First day of the Battle of Crete), signed in ink by Major. Footnote: The Battle of Crete German: Luftlandeschlacht um Kreta, Greek: Μάχη της Κρήτης, also Unternehmen Merkur (Operation Mercury), was fought during World War II on the Greek island of Crete. It began on the morning of 20 May 1941. Paratrooper Badge, wreath in zinc, eagle in tombac, unmarked, likely a Juncker made badge, judging by oblong catch plate and eagle’s cut-off talon, in worn, very fine condition (with award document, dated 26 September 1940, with ink signature of Generalleutnant, some stains, in good/fine condition); “Kreta” Cufftitle, in well-worn condition, tunic removed (with award document, dated 11 February 1943, in extremely fine condition); Luftwaffe Ground Assault Badge, in zinc, unmarked (with award document, dated 26 May 1943, with pencil signature of General der Flieger, in excellent condition). Medal bar of three, mounted as originally worn, comprising: Iron Cross 1939 2nd Class, magnetic; 1. October 1938 Commemorative Medal; East medal; in extremely fine condition. An excellent Fallschirmjäger grouping, un-researched.
