A German Second War Army Officer’s Sabre and Scabbard, by Carl Eickhorn, “Prinz Eugen” Model 1765; measuring 953 mm with the scabbard on; 810 mm slightly curved nickel-plated steel blade (magnetic), marked with Eickhorn manufacturer’s symbol on reverse ricasso; unsharpened blade with 544 mm blood groove running along blade, sharp tip; red leather blade guard fully intact and firmly attached to crossguard; gilded crossguard exhibiting a high relief Wehrmacht Eagle and swastika; eleven triple braided brass bullion wire, tightly wrapped around black celluloid grip; gilded curved knuckle guard running from crossguard to pommel; scabbard in black painted steel, with two screws holding the throat firmly in place; matching hardware in place for hangers and portepee; moderate wear on paint of scabbard, exhibiting some rust from age, blade appears untouched and very lustrous; gilt wear on crossguard, knuckle guard, and pommel from age and wear; overall better than very fine condition.
