An Early SS Dagger by Paul Seilheimer - Measuring 372 mm in length with the scabbard on, this SS Dagger is engraved "Meine Ehre heißt Treue" on the blade, marked with the RZM insignia, maker marked "285/38" (Paul Seilheimer, Solingen) with the SS rune below on the reverse ricasso. The blade has beautiful crossgraining, exhibiting the usual in and out runner marks, with semi-sharp edges and a very sharp tip, exhibiting light surface wear, the blade measuring 221 mm in length and rating better than very fine. Nickel plated fittings on the crossguards, exhibiting light contact. Ebony-coloured wooden handle exhibits light contact overall with the underlying wood exposed on the reverse, while the embedded aluminum eagle rates better than very fine. The SS insignia exhibits light contact, the adjoining pommel remains tight, with the dagger measuring 346 mm in length. The nickel-plated scabbard fittings exhibit contact marks and wear, the locket held in place via two screws, with chipping of the black paint on both edges of the body. Black leather frog with aluminum fittings, held in place with a strap fed through the ring and held in place via a buckle, an additional strap below wrapped around the body of the scabbard, aluminum clip is maker marked "A" (F.W. Assmann & Sohne, Ludenscheid) and marked "DRGM" (Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster) on its reverse, belt loop strap attached to the clip via a D-ring, the scabbard measuring 256 mm in length. Better than very fine.
