An First Pattern Early Luftwaffe Dagger by F. W. Holler

An excellently preserved first pattern early Luftwaffe Dagger by Paul F. W. Holler, Solingen; measuring 487 mm with the scabbard on, this dagger features a exceptionally preserved un-sharpened 309 mm nickel-plated magnetic steel blade; with a sharp tip. The blade’s reverse ricasso is maker marked “F. W. Holler, Solingen” with the company’s insignia. The blade exhibits minimal scratches common to extraction and return to the scabbard, with a double-edged flattened diamond blade, with liberally applied grease for smooth extraction and reinsertion of the scabbard. The thin black leather blade washer remains fully intact and attached to the dagger beneath the aluminum crossguard. Both sides of the crossguard feature a gold-coloured sunwheel swastika in the center. The dark grip shows very minimal signs of wear, and is overall exceptionally well preserved, with twelve rows of wrapped twisted wire. The aluminum pommel is also well preserved, and also features a gold-coloured sunwheel swastika on both sides. The scabbard is constructed of an iron base (magnetic), with firmly attached aluminum fittings and a black Moroccan leather covering - all without any significant signs of wear. Attached to the scabbard is an aluminum dagger hanger chain with fastener, marked “Ges. Gesch” and “OLC” on reverse. Overall mint condition, and a textbook example of an early period Luftwaffe Dagger.
