Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, Third Reich. A Kyffhäuser League Dress Bayonet

(Kyffhäuserbund Bajonett). A well-preserved Kyffhäuser League dress bayonet, measuring 405 mm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 250 mm-long polished magnetic steel blade with a sharpened tip and a fuller running down the length of each side. The blade sits securely within a one-piece nickel-plated metal alloy hilt, with the seam covered by an intact blackened leather buffer pad. The hilt features a hooked quillon and insertion slot with a functional push-button spring catch. Two pieces of polished staghorn comprise the handle group, and are secured together with dual magnetic metal rivets. Inset into the obverse of the handle is an insignia consisting of a partially-gilded magnetic metal edelweiss, overlaid by an enameled Kyffhäuser League insignia. The bayonet is accompanied by its period original scabbard, constructed of a black-painted magnetic metal shaft. The throat retains a functional spring catch, securely holding the bayonet in place during storage, secured together with a single side rivet. A downward-pointing hook emanates from the side of the shaft and connected to a period original frog, consisting of a heavy strip of brown leather, fastened into a belt loop with a row of machine stitching. Wrapped around the frog is an original portepee, consisting of a stylized silver aluminum wire and green threaded acorn suspended from a green embroidered strap, in turn trimmed with dual silver aluminum wire tresses. The set is fully unmarked. Issues consistent with age and use are evident, and include some oxidation and loss of finish to the metal elements, with running marks to the blade. It is in an overall better than very fine condition.
