(Treuedienst-Ehrenzeichen 1.Stufe für 40 Jahre mit Etui). Instituted 30 January 1938. (1938-1942 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse with a central black swastika, the reverse with a central inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE”), unmarked, measuring 41.33 mm (w) x 46.20 mm (h), weighing 23.1 grams (inclusive of ribbon), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of card stock with a faux red leather exterior, the lid with a gold embossed number “40” inside of an oak leaf wreath, the interior with a white satin lid line and red velvet medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, the lid liner maker marked “DESCHLER & SOHN, MÜNCHEN”, measuring 48 mm (w) x 102 mm (w) x 20 mm (h), some fatigue evident to the presentation case, in overall near extremely fine condition.
