Germany, Wehrmacht. A Narvik Shield
(Narvik Schild). Constructed of stamped gilt feinzink, the shield featuring national eagle with swooped down wings, clutching a wreathed swastika, inscribed NARVIK in capital letters, with an Edelweiss flower (representing the Heer) in the center between the date 1940 and a crossed anchor (representing the Kriegsmarine) and propeller (representing the Luftwaffe) on the obverse, all four prongs intact, measuring 42 mm (w) x 91 mm (h), and in overall near very fine condition.
