Germany, Wehrmacht. A Group of Eastern Front Medals
(Ostmedaille). A group of three Eastern Front Medals, each constructed of silvered and patinated zink, on loops for suspension from period original ribbons, the obverse of each bearing a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, the reverse of each with an inscription of “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42” (“WINTER BATTLE IN THE EAST 1941/42”, all topped by a Stahlhelm and stick grenade and measuring 36 mm (w) x 44 mm (h), accompanied by two spare lengths of ribbon and a period original package of issue, constructed of light brown paper stock, the obverse with an inscription of “MEDAILLE WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42 (OSTMEDAILLE)”, the reverse with a maker’s mark of “E. FERD. WIEDMANN, FRANKFURT-A.M.”, measuring 58 mm (w) x 104 mm (h), in fair condition.
