Germany, Heer. A 1944 Campaign Medal for the Spanish “Blue Division” Volunteers in Russia
(Erinnerungsmedaille für die spanischen Freiwilligen im Kampf gegen den Bolschewismus). A round medal die struck in zink alloy, the obverse features a swastika at the bottom with a spray of laurel leaves emanating from each side, a military sword crosses the centre with two shields superimposed on it, these shields are flat-topped with a pointed bottom, on the left is the Wehrmacht eagle while the other shows a the emblem of five upward-pointing arrows joined by a yoke, directly above the shields rests a M-43 left-facing stahlhelm, the reverse centre bears the inscription DIVISION ESPANOLA DE VOLUNTARIOS EN RUSIA (DIVISION OF SPANISH VOLUNTEERS IN RUSSIA), the bottom shows an Iron Cross with the ribbon spread above it and intertwined with a spread of leaves on both sides (on the left are laurels and on the right are oak leaves), the medal measures 32.37 mm in diameter, a ribbon loop through the ribbon ring with a 31 mm-wide ribbon with black edges, white stripes, a center band of red with a thin yellow stripe over the red, and in overall good condition.
