Germany. A Clasp to the Iron Cross 1939 First Class, Second Type, by Uncommon Maker Förster & Barth
(Spange zum Eisernen Kreuz 1939 1. Klasse). Constructed of silvered tombac in the standard form of a German national eagle with out-spread wings clutching a wreathed mobile swastika on-top of a banner dated “1939” within a pebbled field; the reverse plain, with a vertical pinback and a unique counter-sunk barrel hinge, with a round wire catch; marked “L21” for “Förster & Barth, Pforzheim” on the reverse - a rarely encountered maker of this award; measuring 45.80 mm (w) x 30.85 mm (h); weighing 12.8 grams; in overall very fine condition.
