Germany, Wehrmacht. A Walther P38 Pistol Holster, with Clip, c. 1944
(Pistolentasche). An extremely well-preserved Walther P38 pistol holster. Of multi-piece construction, it consists of a black leather shell securely held together along the edges with heavy stitching. The reverse features dual integrated loops for belt attachment. The obverse bears an additional integrated shaft for the accommodation of a spare clip. Emanating from the exterior of the flap is a strap with a buttonhole, in turn meeting an analogous magnetic metal stud emanating from the obverse of the shell, securely closing the holster. The reverse bears a number of embossed marks, including Waffenamt marks of “WAA159”, a code of “BLA” with a manufacture date of “1944”, and an additional mark of “P38”. It measures 155 mm (w) x 230 mm (h) and displays only minor material fatigue, presenting in an extremely fine condition. Notably, the holster includes a spare clip, constructed of a black-painted magnetic metal shaft, perforated with holes along both sides. The interior retains a functional spring release. A stamped mark of “P. 38” is visible along one side of the shaft. It measures 44 mm (w) x 125 mm (h) overall, and is in an extremely fine condition.
