Germany. A Decorated Reich/Regional/District Level NSDAP Oberabschnittsleiter Uniform

This is a gently worn and extremely well preserved complete uniform for a decorated Reich/Regional (Gau)/District (Kreis) Level NSDAP Oberabschnittsleiter uniform, consisting of 1) An Uniform Tunic, 2) A Visor Cap, 3) A Pair of Uniform Trousers accompanied by a Belt, 4) An Uniform Shirt accompanied by a tie.


1) This tunic is constructed of tan-coloured wool. The collar is decorated with gold aluminum bullion twisted chord, with a collar tab on either side, consisting of medium brown doeskin, with three gilt insignia, consisting of a golden political eagle, an oak leaf with two acorns, and a bar consisting of six horizontally positioned oak leaves. The tab is edged by baby blue trim, with a standard buckram core. On its left sleeve is a political armband, constructed of bright red wool, with a black mobile machine embroidered swastika in the centre with a golden embroidered border, superimposed on a white backer, with a gilded rank pip in the centre. Extending on both sides of the swastika are strips of fabric with oak leaves in golden embroidery, edged by a double row of equally coloured embroidery. Towards the top and bottom of the armband is a gold aluminum bullion row near the top of the armband, with baby blue piping. It is sewn to the sleeve. Towards the front opening are four pebbled gilt buttons, depicting a political eagle clutching a swastika button. Each button is marked RZM M5/75/3, and is paired with a reinforced button hole on the opposite side of the tunic. The tunic features a total of four pockets, two breast pockets and two at the waste. Each horizontal slit pocket is secured shut via a flap and a pebbled gilt button, each marked RZM 5/9. The tunic is decorated with two medal ribbon bars, with an Iron Cross 1914 ribbon, a Bavarian Order of Merit ribbon with Swords, a War Merit Cross Second Class ribbon, a Hindenburg Cross ribbon with Swords, a 10-Year Long Service Cross ribbon, an Austrian Anschluss Medal ribbon, and a German Volkspflege Medal ribbon. It is also decorated with a NSDAP party membership badge, constructed of silvered tombac and red, white, and black enamels, and is marked “RZM M1/101” for “Gustav Brehmer, Markneukirchen”. It measures 23.08mm. Directly below the party badge is a Bronze Grade DRL Badge; constructed of bronze metal alloy that is marked “Hensler-Pforzheim” on the reverse, with a vertical pinback and a functional hinge/catch assembly. It measures 39.37 mm (w) x 48.22 mm (h). The interior is lined with tan silky fabric on the body, and gray cotton in the sleeves. It is marked “52” for size and features a RZM label in the left interior breast pocket.


2) The visor is constructed of tan woven cloth and is in the shape of a traditional high-peak cap, with baby blue piping along the crown of the cap, as well as above and below the medium brown doeskin capo band. It is decorated with a silvered eagle, a partially enameled tri-colour cockade, and well as a gold bullion chin strap, consisting of twisted gold bullion wires attached to either side of the cap via a single pebbled gilded metal (magnetic) button. The interior is lined with a champagne-coloured silk, with a celluloid. The edges of the interior of the cap is lined with a khaki faux leather sweatband with a perforated front.


3) The trousers are constructed of tan-coloured wool. The front features a vertical slit opening, with five vertically oriented bakelite buttons that are met by matching reinforced loop holes on the opposing side. It features fifteen bakelite buttons around the waste for the attachment of suspenders and other accessories. IT has a diagonal slit pocket on the front of each side, secured shut via a flap and a bakelite button, as well as an additional horizontal slit pocket secured shut via a flap and a bakelite button the the reverse right side. The trousers are un-lined, but with a partial liner around the crotch. The pant legs feature fourteen painted metal (magnetic) rivets that are tied shut via a lace, with three small bakelite buttons at the end, securing the pant leg shut. It is accompanied by a thick chocolate brown leather belt, with a pebbled gilt double-claw bronze buckle. It has a wool reverse, with three leather belt loops attached to the belt, one for excess of the belt to be tucked into, and two for the attachment of the diagonal leather shoulder strap. It is marked “Croupon 256” on the reverse as well as RZM M1 on the reverse of the spring loaded buckle.


4) The uniform shirt is constructed of khaki coloured cotton, featuring a collar and two horizontal slit breast pockets that are secured shut via one bakelite button each. The front of the shirt is ordained with four buttons - two bakelite, one metal, and one smaller button. Each sleeve has a slit at the ends, with two reinforced button holes, but is missing its buttons. A tag is attached to the collar, reading “Indantherenfarbig”, and is stamped “2807/105/32” in black ink directly above. The shirt is accompanied by a dark brown silk tie.


Overall, this tunic is very well preserved. It depicts some very light signs of wear, along with light mothing throughout. The visor on the cap has started to come detached from the rest of the cap. In overall extremely fine condition.
