A Second War German Shoulder Strap

Strap fabricated from a thick leather, smooth dark brown finished upper, raw underside, one end folded over with a pebbled silvered metal rectangular buckle for length adjustment, two leather sliders on the belt, the ends of the strap terminating at either end and housing a leather flap which supports pebbled silvered metal functioning clips, each clip maker marked and connected to a D-ring with leather loops stitched in place, the supporting flaps and loops with matching smooth dark brown finished uppers, the belt measuring 23 mm x 1,045 mm. Crazing evident on the leather uppers on the various parts, offsetting of the silvered clips evident on the supporting flaps, near extremely fine.

Footnote: From the collection of approximately 900 German buckles accumulated by John R. Angolia, who start collecting buckles, belts and brocades from 1944 until around 1990; most of the buckles were obtained from the American and German veterans; most of these buckles present a core of Angolia’s book “Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich”, published in 2001.
