Germany, Luftwaffe. An Administration Official Major General Tropical Tunic
(Waffenrock). A Luftwaffe tropical tunic constructed of thick, khaki cotton twill, with four box-pleated patch pockets, five gilt-finished pebbled buttons positioned down the front of the coat and meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes, also a button to each of the four three-pointed pocket flaps, the collar, piped with golden twisted cord, is set under a pair of collar tabs constructed of dark green wool edged in twisted gold cording, featuring a full wreath of oak leaves containing a single triangular rank star in hand-embroidered gold threads, each measuring 42 mm (w) x 55 mm (h), each shoulder presents a shoulder board, plaited in five “loops,” comprised of a length of silver braid between two braided cords of gold bullion, reaching a gilt button, constructed of an inner underlay of white wool with a lower underlay of dark-green, each measuring 45 mm (w) x 110 mm (h), over the right breast is a Luftwaffe-style eagle in fine golden wire over a Luftwaffe-blue cloth hand-stitched to the tunic, measuring 82 mm (w) x 39 mm (h), in the centre of the rear of the jacket skirt is a 258 mm vent, interior is unlined, the tunic measures 470 mm across the shoulders, 720 mm in length overall, and 525 mm in the arms, the tunic exhibits soiling and wear, but is in overall very fine condition.
