Germany, Luftwaffe. A Flight Lieutenant Service Tunic to W. Jenrich
(Tuchrock). A service tunic constructed of blue-grey cotton twill, single-breasted, with a single row of four silvered, pebbled buttons running down the centre, each maker marked on reverse with A for F.W. Assmann and Sohne, meeting an equal number of reinforced button holes, with four patch pockets, each having pleats and rectangular flaps, each with a silvered, pebbled button, maker marked on reverse with A for F.W. Assmann and Sohne and stamped EXTRA FEIN, each sleeve features 15.4 cm-deep turnback cuffs, each shoulder bears shoulder boards constructed of four row of silver aluminum bullion wire embroidery twisted into a U shape, over a lemon-yellow Waffenfarbe wool backer, attached by a silver, pebbled button, each measuring approximately 35 mm (w) x 90 mm (h), the collar presents collar tabs constructed of lemon-yellow wool with rolled and flat silver bullion insignia consisting of a single gull above crossed branches with raised accents in the leaves, all four sides trimmed in twisted silver bullion wires, on a standard buckram core, each measuring approximately 42 mm (w) x 57 mm (h), with a metal Luftwaffe-style breast eagle pinned over the top of the right breast pocket, measuring 82 mm (w) x 36 mm (h), the interior of the tunic is lined with a navy-blue rayon lining, with an interior pocket over the left breast, the owner’s name and address W. JENRICH FLECHTINGEN embroidered into the neck loop for hanging the tunic, the tunic measures a total of 40 cm across the shoulders, 59 cm in the arms, and 65 cm in total length, displays moderate soiling, with apparent wear to the collar tabs, but in otherwise better than very fine condition.
