A Second War 25th Jäger Regiment Hauptmann's Dress Tunic Consign: 6

A Second War 25th Jäger Regiment Hauptmann's Dress Tunic - The tunic is fabricated from an extremely fine grade, smooth to the touch, green wool. The shoulders are adorned with epaulette straps with brownish silk thread uppers, with black thread highlights, each strap with individual gilt numbers forming the number "25" flanked by gilt pips, emblematic of the rank of Hauptmann (Captain), the undersides in white wool and are held firmly in place by pebbled gilt aluminum buttons at one end and sewn in place at the opposite end, where they meet the sleeve seam, with both buttons exhibiting gilt wear. The collar is covered in forest green wool with officer's Infantry collar tabs on either side, each tab in aluminum bullion wire with two rows of white twisted silk threading in the two central channels. There is a dual hook and eye closure on the collar, ensuring a snug fit at the neckline. The right breast exhibits a nicely-detailed, aluminum bullion wire Wehrmacht eagle, the wings and swastika highlighted with forest green threading and giving definition to both, on a forest green wool base. The front has four pockets, one on each breast, with larger pockets below each, all with decorative straps giving them a pleated-look, with pebbled green gilt aluminum buttons at the top of each. The left breast has three vertical thread loops arranged horizontally where a long ribbon bar once resided. Immediately below on the pleat of the pocket are two horizontal thread loops, arranged vertically, originally housing additional awards. The front is completed by a vertical row of five pebbled green gilt aluminum buttons on the right side, facing an equal number of reinforced button holes on the left. All buttons on the tunic are unmarked, while the rear of the tunic is single-vented. The tunic has been designed with a tapered-fit in mind, as evidenced by nine vertical seams, four on the front and the other five on the sides and rear. The sleeves have been designed to be button-less and have French cuffs. Inside, the body of the tunic is lined throughout in a green rayon, with three pockets, a large one on each breast, plus a small pocket below at the hip for a dagger. There is a dagger hanger strap attached to the seam at the left armpit, also in green rayon, with an adjustable slider and an aluminum dagger hanger clip marked "DRGM" (Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster), with a protective leather tab on its underside, the upper finished in a smooth green veneer. The arms are lined in white cotton with a thin black rule design. The tunic measures 460 mm across the shoulders x 685 mm in length, exhibiting a nice texture in the fabric, quality workmanship, due to the superior fabrics employed, with beautiful, intact stitching, maintaining its original period look and is very clean. Extremely fine. (C:6)
