Saxe-Weimar, Duchy. A Miniature Order of the White Falcon in Gold, c.1900
(Großherzoglich Sächsischer Hausorden der Wachsamkeit oder vom Weißen Falken). Instituted on 2 August 1732 and recreated 18 October 1815. Type II. Civil Division. A 14K Gold Maltese cross, with green-enamelled arms lined by a narrow golden border, with red-enamelled rays emanating between the arms, the centre obverse presents a white-enamelled, left-facing falcon, the reverse presents a white-enamelled Maltese cross, with green-enamelled rays between the arms, the centre reverse presents a dark-blue enamelled oval bearing the golden motto VIGI/LANDO ASCEN/DIMUS (BY VIGILANCE WE ASCEND), surrounded by a laurel wreath tied at the bottom with a bow, surmounted by an open, five-pointed ducal crown, measuring 14.30 mm (w) x 24.04 mm (h - inclusive of Imperial Crown), and in extremely fine condition.
