(Hohe Orden vom Schwarzen Adler, Bruststern zum Kreuz des Ordens, gestickt). Instituted 17 January 1701. (1701-1918 Issue). A finely executed embroidered star in silver, with small eyelets at the ends of the rays, centre obverse presents a black embroidered eagle with crown, beak, eye, and claws completed in golden wire, clutching a wreath in green wool and thunderbolts in orange wire, (importantly the eagle is facing to its left thereby denoting that this is a Mantle Star for the left side of a horse blanket), bordered by a ring of golden embroidery bearing the motto SUUM CUIQUE (TO EACH HIS OWN) in golden thread embroidery, the lower half with laurel branches in green silk with fruits in orange-red wool, this ring is bordered inside and out with twisted silver wire, reverse centre presents a cardboard paper backing, measuring 102 mm (w) x 107 mm (h), weighing 21.1 grams, displays some loose threading at ends of star rays, and very fine.
