Prussia, Kingdom. A House Order of Hohenzollern, Grand Commander Miniature
(Hausorden von Hohenzollern, Großkomtur Miniatur). Instituted 5 December 1841 by Prince Konstantin of Hohenzollern-Hechingen and Prince Karl Anton of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. (1852-1918 issue). Constructed of Gold with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a black enameled Hohenzollern Imperial Eagle clutching an orb and sceptre with feathering highlighted in Gold, overlaid by a black and white enameled shield, with the eagle’s head surrounded by a ring of blue enamel bearing a gilt inscription of “VOM FELS ZUM MEER” (“FROM THE CLIFFS TO THE SEA”) with an integral suspension loop, unmarked, measuring 15.39 mm (w) x 19.50 mm (h), weighing 1.8 grams, in extremely fine condition.
