Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Grand Duchy. A House Order of the Wendish Crown, Grand Cross Case, by H. Rose

(Etui). An original presentation case of issue for a House Order of the Wendish Crown, Grand Cross set, constructed of dark-reddish brown leatherette, the obverse is embossed in golden with the crowned monogram, the interior presents a purple satin lining, maker marked H. Rose Grossherzogl. Hofjuwelier Schwerin i. M., with an intact hinge cover, a slotted purple felt medal bed, with three functional clasps, measuring 16 cm (w) x 29 cm (l) x 6.5 cm (h), presenting mild wear and damage, with repaired hinge that opens 50%, otherwise good.

 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
