Bavaria. A Royal Merit Order of St. Michael Merit Medal, c.1900
(Bayerisch-Königlicher Verdienstorden vom heiligen Michael) Instituted 16 February 1837. A circular medal constructed of silver, the obverse bears an image of St. Michael slaying a dragon, he holds a shield that reads “Quis Ut Deus” (Who [is] like God?), the reverse centre bears the inscription “VIRTVTI” (VIRTUE) encompassed by a wreath of oak tied with a ribbon in a bow at the bottom, measuring 35.94 mm (w) x 43.67 mm (h), with loop for suspension on a blue and pink ribbon, very fine.
