What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Buyer's Premium

All bids are subject to a Buyer's Premium which is in addition to the placed successful bid. The following rate of Buyer's Premium will be added to the Hammer Price of each Lot that you purchase:

Germany, Polizei. An Auxiliary Police (Polizei) NCO’s Shako by C. Pose, Berlin

(Polizei Tschako). Constructed of a moulded vulcanfibre body with a police green wool covering to the exterior. The body of the Shako has an extruding, humped curve reverse with a mid-brown lacquered, downward sloping front and rear vulcanfibre visors and a circular "coffee can" style top. Both the front and rear visors are secured to the Shako by a narrow horizontal strip of mid-brown lacquered leather which is machine stitched all along the bottom edge. The circular, mid-brown lacquered vulcanfibre, "coffee can", style top is also secured to the Shako by a row of horizontal stitching running through small, evenly spaced puncture holes. Each side of the Shako body has two small, screened ventilation holes situated just below the crown seam, with internal sliding vent closure panels permitting the forward vent to be closed. The front center of the Shako has a large, high relief, stamped, aluminum second pattern (circa June 1936-May 1945) police eagle emblem with outstretched wings, clutching a wreathed mobile swastika in its talons. The emblem is in turn surrounded by a richly-detailed wreath of oak leaves, and presents with an bright, clean appearance. The emblem is secured to the Shako by two small, screw-threaded retaining posts inserted through two holes in the body with retaining nuts and washers visible in the interior. The front centre of the Shako also has a small, stitch-reinforced, horizontal slash to accommodate the national tri-color cockade retaining wires. The Shako has an oval, stamped aluminum national tri-color cockade, with five silver-washed, simulated twisted ropes encompassing a single, black painted, simulated twisted rope inner edge, finishing in a single silver-washed, ribbed, inner trim with a red painted recessed centerpiece. The bottom edge of the cockade has an extended wire loop to secure it to the Shako. The Shako has a mid-brown leather chinstrap with sliding, dual, natural aluminum length adjustment buckles and natural aluminum retaining rings. The interior of the Shako has an eight-finger natural tan leather liner, with each finger presenting with six ventilation perforations. The interior crown of the Shako is stamped with a manufacturer’s mark of “C. Pose, Berlin” and the number “576”. The shako displays very minor evidence of wear from use, including some cracks to the vulcanfibre, fatigue to the leather elements, and scuffing of the police emblem, but is in an otherwise better than very fine condition.
