Germany, RBD. A Railway Protection Police Overseas Cap, Dated 1939

(Reichsbahndirektion Schiffchen). Constructed of thick dark blue wool, with fold-down panels featuring gently sloping, downward scallops to the front and sides. On the front of the cap is a national eagle, constructed of bright white machine embroidery, with open wings, clutching a mobile wreathed swastika. Directly below it, is a light gray machine embroidered soutache that is sewn to the cap in a standard triangular fashion, with a machine embroidered tri-coloured cockade directly below. The interior of the cap is lined with gray ribbed cotton, and is stamped “R.B.D Stuttgart 1939”, as well as “Fr. Issler, Stuttgart” and with “56 ½” for size. It measures 275 mm (w) x 98 mm (h). A slightly worn example in overall better than very fine condition.
