Germany, Heer. A Wehrmacht Officer’s Mountain Troop Field Cap

(Wehrmacht Gebirgjäger Offiziersfeldmütze). Of multi-piece construction, fabricated from high quality field-grey wool, with fold-down panels with squared scallops to the front and forward sides, covering the entire neck on the sides and rear when in use. When not in use, the panels are raised with their ends resting upon the visor, being joined together via two silver pebbled aluminum buttons. On the left side of the right side of the cap attached to the panel is a silver aluminum Edwelweiss flower, sewn to the cap via five points. Along the crown of the cap is silver aluminum embroidered tresse to signify Officer rank. The front of the cap is ordained with a single officer’s insignia, depicting a German national eagle and a tri-colour cockade. The visor at the front is reinforced with cardboard, and is covered in matching green wool. The interior of the cap is lined with dark green/mossy green silk, without maker marks or stamps of any kind. It measures 200 mm (w) x 240 mm (h), with scattered small mothing, an unused example in overall near mint condition.
