(Preussen Eisernes Kreuz, II Klasse). Instituted 10 March 1813 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III. 1914 Issue. A blackened cross paty with iron core, the obverse centre bears the cipher “W” for Wilhelm, the 12 o’clock arm bears a crown, the 6 o’clock arm bears the date “1914”, the reverse centre bears an oak branch, the 12 o’clock arm bears a crowned “FW” cipher for Friedrich Wilhelm, the 6 o’clock arm bears the date “1813”, suspension ring maker marked “W&S” (Wagner & Sohn), measuring 42.89 mm (w) x 46.46 mm (h), weighing 19.8 g; accompanied by correlating stick pin, blackened cross paty with “W” cipher in centre, crown on 12 o’clock arm and “1914” on 6 o’clock arm, measuring 54.20 mm total length, very fine.
