A lot of awards and documents to Ernst Meier, including a 1914 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, the suspension loop marked “MEH” for an unidentified maker, measuring 43.35 mm (w) x 48.42 mm (h), weighing 18.8 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in near extremely fine condition; accompanied by its award document, constructed of paper with black ink, dated 9 August 1918 and indicating that Meier belonged to the 4th Company of the 5th Hannover Infantry Regiment (4th Battalion), measuring 144 mm (w) x 113 mm (h), in extremely fine condition; an Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918, constructed of bronze magnetic metal, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with central wreathed dates 1914-1918, with crossed swords piercing the centre, the reverse maker marked “G & S” for Glaser & Sohn, Dresden, measuring 37.48 mm (w) x 42.30 mm (h), weighing 14.3 grams, in near extremely fine condition; accompanied by its period document, constructed of paper with black ink, dated 17 November 1934, measuring 213 mm (w) x 148 mm (h), in extremely fine condition; accompanied by a photograph of Meier in uniform with his wife, unmarked and undated, measuring 137 mm (w) x 120 mm (h), minor material fatigue evident, in near extremely fine condition.
