Large, decorative stiff-framed epaulette, upper in violet velvet, the outer edges of the protruding tab trimmed in a strip of fine aluminum wire interlaced with red and black threading, a gilt Surgeon's cypher affixed to the oval cap, large raised gold-coloured bullion wire ridge flanked with two rows of rolled wire trim butting the protruding wide oval cap, two rows of tightly-wound gold-coloured bullion wire fringe suspended at the end, the outer rows with twenty-five large coils, the inner row with thirty-two small coils, the underside of the oval cap also in violet velvet, the underside of the protruding tab in black finished leather, 115 mm x 140 mm x 100 mm, better than extremely fine.
