A 1915 Bavarian Pickelhaube to the 19th J.R.

Nice issue example of an issued Bavarian Pickelhaube. Blackened lacquered leather construction with brass metal fittings. This helmet features a rounded body and extended, rounded corner, front and squared rear visors. The forward edge of the front visor is trimmed in brass which is secured in position by two dome headed studs. The pickelhaube has the Bavarian pattern, stamped, gilded brass helmet plate (wappen). The helmet plate features a central vertical oval with the embossed coat-of-arms, flanked by crowned rampant lions. (Please note: the left lions tail is indeed ditatched in one of two connection points) The top edge of the helmet plate has a large crown and the bottom edge has an unfurled banner with embossed Gothic script, "In Treue Fest" (In Loyalty Steadfast). The helmet plate is attached to the pickelhaube by two leather pins. The spike base has five circular ventilation holes to the "neck" portion. The reverse center of the pickelhaube has a vertical, gilded brass, reinforcement spine with the sliding ventilation shutter.. The pickelhaube has a black leather chinstrap secured in place by side posts. Both korkarden are present and are original. The interior of the pickelhaube is in natural dark leather with 9 fingers and cord. This helmet is well marked, 147, BDM, 1915. Marked on the rear visor to the 19th J.R. Overall, very fine.
