A Fine First War German Naval Aviators Grouping - A Naval Pilot's Badge by Maybauer; a rare badge in bronze gilt, solid, with Maybauer crest behind pin, with strong catch and hinge, 45.5 (w) x 70.9 (h) mm, exhibiting some gilt wear on obverse from period use, sharp detailing, extremely fine; with framed portrait of recipient in silvered frame; reads "to me dear father, a souvenir from my training as a Naval Pilot, from your grateful son, Hez." on reverse; Iron Cross First Class 1914, vaulted with toned silver frame, iron core, unmarked but of high quality, extremely fine; Black Grade Naval Wound Badge, magnetic, very fine; Iron Cross Second Class 1914, iron core, silver frame, extremely fine; Hindenburg Cross in bronze,marked; ribbon bar and cockade; with MARINE - FLIEGER ABTEILUNG cap tally (seen in accompanying portrait); Most interestingly, this group comes with 13 excellent photographs of the recipient. An excellent and complete grouping.
