An Extremely Rare 1873 German Imperial Shanghai China Cross

Germany (Imperial), China (Tongzhi Imperial). "St. J. L. Germania Shanghai 1873" Cross Two-piece construction, bronze gilt with red, white, pink, green, light blue, dark blue and black enamelled insignia, mounted to a bronze gilt cross with black enamelled arms, the insignia illustrating Germania (the personification of the German nation) holding a sword in her right hand and a shield in her left hand, inscribed "ST. J. L. GERMANIA SHANGHAI 1873" on the reverse, 60 mm x 65.5 mm, intact enamels, traces of gilt remains, extremely fine and extremely rare.
