A Large Colour Print of Huberth Brinkforth; First Enlisted Man to receive the Knight’s Cross

This is a very large print of Hubert Brinkforth in his uniform. Marked 22 on the bottom right with the reverse left blank. Measuring 498 mm x 349; in mint condition without creases, rips, or signs of age or use. Perfect for framing.

Footnote: Hubert Brinkforth (April 15, 1916 - June 5, 1942) was a highly decorated NCO (Unteroffizier) of the Wehrmacht during the Second War. He was the first soldier to receive the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross for his extreme battlefield bravery. He served as a Richtschütze (aiming gunner) of a 3.7 cm Pak 36 Anti-Tank gun during the Battle of France by Abbeville. While taking a defencive position, he succeeded in destroying nine enemy tanks during the course of the 20 minute battle. For his actions, he received the Iron Cross 1939 Second Class, but was also nominated for the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross by Erich von Manstein. Brinkworth received the Knight’s Cross on April 1, 1941. He was killed by Soviet artillery by Pogostje, Russia, on June 5, 1942.
