A German Afrika Korps "Trench Art" Embroidered Belt and Panzer Calendar 1943
Belt in off-white embroidered ribbed cotton, illustrating a palm tree with swastika in brown, light blue and black embroidery with an overlaying map of Africa outlined in white at the far left, inscribed "DAK" (Deutsches Afrikakorps) in the National tri-colours, dated in olive green "1941" at the left and "1942" at the right, with the battle sites in five colours "TRIPOLI / DERNA / BENGASI / TORBRUK / HALFAYA / SOLLUM / KAIRO / HELUAN / SUEZ" between the dates, a leather tab stitched in place at the right end with three holes for length adjustment, a leather patch stitched in place with a brass buckle at the left end, 48 mm x 830 mm inclusive of the leather placements, partial black embroidery loss on the "D" of "DAK", spots of paint, lightly soiled); and Panzer Army Africa Diary and Information Book (entitled "PANZERARMEE AFRIKA Kalender 1943" (Panzer Army Africa Calendar 1943), issued/gifted by Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels with introduction y him on page 3 and photo of Adolf Hilter on page 2, one entry inscribed in blue ink "Siegfried stellung bezog" under January 3rd on page 26, 172 pages plus cover, 100 mm x 152 mm x 14 mm, missing its spine, soiled cover, accompanied by a 1942 Overview Map of North Africa in German (printed in four colours on an off-white paper stock, 383 mm x 497 mm).
