Bronze, oval-shaped, obverse illustrating a pair of ski poles, fronted by a rifle, the rifle fronted by a pair of skis, surmounted by a star, a village in the foreground and mountains in the background, framed by two rows of rope, hand-engraved "Eclaireur Skigur / 2e Bataillon de Chasseurs a Red / BOURGOIS / 1940 PAUL 1941" on the reverse, 31 mm x 44.3 mm, horizontal pinback, extremely fine. Footnote: This badge denotes a member of the SES - Section Eclaireur-Skieur who, according to the reverse, was a attached to the 2nd Infantry Battalion. The SES were formed of the most capable Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers (SES= Section Eclaireur-Skieur) from each battalion and regiment.
