Egypt, Kingdom. An Order of Ismail in Gold, 1st Class Commander, by J.Lattes, c.1925

Instituted 1915-1952. An absolutely outstanding commander's cross in Gold, with exquisite enamel work, five blue enameled arms with hand etched gold details and enameled ball finials, a green and black enameled laurels surrounded a blue centre, crown suspension in Gold with red and blue enamel finishes, measuring 60.3 mm (w) x 82.5 mm (h - inclusive of suspension and loop), well hallmarked on reverse, suspension, suspension loop, crown reverse for 18k Gold, Stork symbolizing Gold Manufacture, and Date Letter "A" 1925-26), on old ribbon, remains in near mint condition. Housed in original case of issue, leather bound and embossed in gold, interior lid displaying the manufacture J.Lattes, Cairo, case in fine condition.

 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society. His knowledge and passion for history and awards is evident in this meticulously compiled collection that is now available in its entirety for the first time exclusively on eMedals.com.
