An Italy Star, in bronze gilt, full size, minor wear, extremely fine.
A Defence Medal, in silver, full size, light wear, very fine.
A British War, in silver, full size, light residue to reverse, minor contact, very fine.
A Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with overseas clasp, in silver, light wear, very fine.
A Memorial Cross, in silver, full size, reverse engraved F.O. J.H. WILSON J22468, marked STERLING on the 6 o’clock arm, minor loss of silver finish, remains very fine.
A Birks Bar, in sterling silver, engraved F/O J.H. WILSON R.C.A.F. DIED IN HIS COUNTRY’S SERVICE 17 AUG 1944, reverse marked BIRKS and STERLING, scratches to the obverse, near very fine.
An RAF Cloth Patch, light brown embroidery on black rayon, thread holes around the exterior denoting removal from uniform, measures 79 mm (w) x 31 mm (h), creased, loose threads, near very fine.
An RCAF Pathfinder Badge, in brass gilt, reverse with two screwposts, with a reddish-brown fibre backer, measures 55.8 mm (w) x 13.6 mm (h), unmarked, very fine.
Footnote: John Henry Wilson was born in March, 1920 in British Columbia, Ontario. He enlisted on September 28, 1939 in Edmonton. Wilson served as a pilot during the second war with the 78th Operational Training Unit. He served in the Middle East.
He was killed whilst flying a Wellington ME914 on August 17, 1944. He was lost without a trace over the Mediterranean during a night navigational exercise and was buried in Alamein Mem, Egypt.
