Footnote: Les Fusiliers Mont-Royal is one of the oldest surviving units of the historical regiments of the Canadian army. It celebrated its regimental centenary in 1969. The unit was created on June 18, 1869. They were first named the 65th Regiment, then the Mount Royal Rifles, later the Carabiniers Mont-Royal and finally in 1931, the name became Les Fusiliers Mont-Royal. It is also one of the few regiments from French Canada, having its roots in the French part of Montreal in the nineteenth century. Famous former members include Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau. Best known for having been one of the participants of the ill-planned Dieppe Raid, Les Fusiliers Mont-Royal was put back in shape and later obtained battle honours in seven major engagements in Wordd War II. The regiment was also involved in several engagements in World War I in Europe, and the interventions of 1885 in the North-West Rebellion in Canada, where it also obtained battle honours. During all these engagements and the peaceful periods between them, the barracks language was French and the command language was English, following the tradition of several \"indigenous\" or \"native\" regiments of the British Empire. Recruits knew that they would have to learn a set of basic English commands for training and fighting purposes, while their daily life could go on in French. When World War I and also when World War II erupted, young French-speaking Quebecois flocked in great numbers to volunteer for service to the Crown within Les Fusiliers Mont-Royal (and a few other \"bilingual\" regiments like it), because they expected that in this unit they would not be mocked or otherwise hindered because of their language or their religion. Many of them had to be turned back, because there was not enough room within a single regiment, and because the nascent Canadian army refused any serious expansion to the \"bilingual\" regiments or the formation of other regiments of the same kind. The Latin motto of the regiment is \"Nunquam retrorsum\", which can be roughly translated as \"Never retreat\".","brand":"eMedals","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46109862297877,"sku":"C1050","price":75.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0713\/9105\/2053\/files\/wwii_les_fusilie_517e9a8382a20.jpg?v=1692841710"},{"product_id":"an-early-merchant-marine-cap-to-captain-raymond-c0663","title":"An Early Merchant Marine Cap To Captain Raymond","description":"Within its original box, this rare and early merchant marine cap has been well maintained and therefore shows little aging. The exterior is fabricated from brown leather, with zip up housings for the telephone receivers on both sides, the front with a leather chinstrap stitched in place on the right side and when fed through the buckle sewn in place to the tab on the left side, ensures a snug fit at the chin. The rear has three vertical straps stitched in place: one strap with three adjustment holes and metal buckle in the centre at the base of the helmet, with a long strap housing a metal length adjustment buckle fed horizontally through the vertical strap, allowing for a secure fit at the neckline; along with two vertical straps with snap closures stitched in place on either side just above the aforementioned vertical strap, allowing for the placement of the accompanying Mk III goggles. The interior is lined in supple sheepskin, with a forest green cotton patch stitched in place at the brow, extensive padding around the ears, hand inscribed in black ink \"G DUNN B219868\" at the rear on the right side. The helmet measures approximately 220 mm (w) x 240 mm (h) overall, the stitching intact throughout, with both zippers on the housings functional, exhibiting age soiling. The lenses frames are secured in place via two screws each and are hinged above the nose piece for easier storage. The elasticized straps at either end have leather tabs stitched in place, in order to connect them to the loops on the frame, the elasticized straps connected together via a thick two-piece leather strap with adjustable buckle that feeds through the two vertical straps at the rear of the helmet. There are two black metal eyelets on each side of the cap on the underside of the overhang for ventilation. The front is adorned with a 65 mm (w) x 49.5 mm (h) fire gilt Royal Canadian Artillery Cap Badge. The black patent leather visor has a black two-piece patent leather strap resting along the top edge, held in position via silvered Canadian Army insignia service buttons on both sides, along with a raised 12 mm wide border on the brim covered in silvered bullion wire, trimmed in gold-coloured bullion wire cord on either side. The underside of the visor has a green synthetic finish, the visor itself very stiff. The 45 mm wide sweatband is fabricated from chocolate brown leather, with the two ends held together by a white ribbon which is finished in a bow-tie. The front of the sweatband over the visor has an additional reinforcing patch of deerskin leather stitched to the leather sweatband, aiding in restricting sweat from the wearer's forehead. The underside of the sweatband on the left side is named in black ink to \"MAJOR A.V. TAYLOR\". The sidewalls and dome are covered in a moisture-resistant fabric, with a \"Stokes CAP \u0026amp; REGALIA LTD. TORONTO ONTARIO\" manufacturer's label placed in the dome under the moisture-resistant covering. The visor and strap exhibit very light crazing, with one small nip in the trim on the visor's edge. Overall, it continues to exhibit smooth quality in the wool, plus quality workmanship, intact stitching, maintaining its original period look, extremely fine.","brand":"eMedals","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46132231602453,"sku":"M0231-39.RL1","price":185.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0713\/9105\/2053\/files\/dsc_1017_1.jpg?v=1773078469"},{"product_id":"canada-dominion-a-13th-regiment-militia-helmet-plate-c1890-m0385-515","title":"Canada, Dominion.
