Its military function was the organization of Black Shirt battalions fro service within each division of the Royal Army. The MVSN were distinguished by their uniform in several ways. The \"fascio\" insignia was used on the hat and the collar tabs. A black shirt uniform was worn, except usually not in combat. The Black Shirts (Squadracce Nere, also known as the Squadristi) served in independent groups or as assault battalions attached to the regular army divisions. There was some resistance to incorporating the Black Shirts into the regular army and II Duce (Mussolini) had to issue an order requiring it in 1941. Two Black Shirt battalions were organized for each of the 133 MVSN legions. The fez was originally an ancient headwear piece used by various elite forces within Europe. Mussolini brought it back and it was his choice always for his own uniform.\n ","brand":"eMedals","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46110394974485,"sku":"EU5166","price":450.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0713\/9105\/2053\/files\/141_2fd1d51b-3af7-4503-bfdd-d2225e0026ce.jpg?v=1692846519"},{"product_id":"an-italian-leva-italian-youth-fascist-opera-balilla-armband-eu9854","title":"An Italian Leva Italian Youth Fascist \"Opera Balilla\" Armband","description":"An Italian Leva Italian Youth Fascist \"Opera Balilla\" Armband - Screen-printed black ink on thin white mesh cotton, inscribed \"O. A date is missing, but the “tenth anniversary of fascism”, the March on Rome (late October 1922), is mentioned, in combination with another date, December 8, 1932. The document shows considerable signs of aging, yet the text is still clearly readable, and the signature is unobstructed. The document is sent by Mussolini to the King of Italy. It is signed by “the minister”, the signature is in black ink. The object is a former infantry lieutenant on leave, Carmelo Siracusa, and the revocation of the removal from his position. Siracusa had been removed by Royal decree on December 8, 1932. Apparently after accepting a challenge to a duel, he refused to fight his opponent due to medical reasons and was therefore suspended. Mussolini informs the king that Siracusa’s case has been reviewed and, because of mitigating circumstances, Mussolini asks for Siracusa to be reinstated in light of the “tenth anniversary of fascism”.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"eMedals","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46119136854293,"sku":"EU12503","price":440.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0713\/9105\/2053\/files\/d_8433.jpg?v=1692864922"},{"product_id":"italy-fascist-state-a-set-of-voluntary-militia-for-national-security-blackshirts-mvsn-shoulder-boards-eu12530","title":"Italy, Fascist State. The tradition of Jubilee (Holy) Years dates back to ancient biblical times - “You shall hallow the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee to you; and you shall return every man to his possession, and you shall return every man to his family” (Leviticus 25, 10-14). Pope Boniface VII instituted the first Christian Jubilee in 1300 through the Papal Bull “Antiquorum Fida Relatio” and the tradition continues. The Military Hospitaller Order of St. John, Southern Italy Earthquake Relief Medal was issued to those who assisted the relief efforts during the 1980 Irpinia Earthquake (AKA Southern Italy Eartquake), which took place in Southern Italy on November 23rd, with a moment magnitude of 6.9 and a maximum Mercalli intensity of X (Extreme).
