Includes seventeen Service Cap Badges, Type II (1926-1937) (in bronze gilt, with various degrees of gilt wear, measuring 38.7 mm in diameter each, fifteen with screwbacks, two without screwbacks, two are undulated); one U.S. Block Letters Collar Disk, Type III (1937-1945) (two-piece construction, in bronze gilt, measuring 25.5 mm in diameter, screwback); six Service Buttons (in bronze gilt, measuring 16 mm in diameter each, five with screwposts, two of which have screwbacks, the other one maker marked with dual prongs); two Wingnuts (in bronze gilt, measuring 31.7 mm (w) x 19 mm (h) each); and a Second War Identification Tag (in silvered steel, magnetic, stamped "HARRY W. FREEZE / USA" on the obverse and "20724079" on the reverse, measuring 30 mm (w) x 35.2 mm (h), with two die-holes). Ranging from fair to near extremely fine.
Footnote: 20724079 Technician Fourth Grade Harry W. Freeze, Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 137th Infantry was awarded the Good Conduct Medal on June 1, 1945.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society. His knowledge and passion for history and awards is evident in this meticulously compiled collection that is now available in its entirety for the first time exclusively on eMedals.com.
